Oakville Hydro Shares 2026 Earth Hour Results
(Oakville, ON) March 30, 2026 – The Town of Oakville once again joined communities around the globe in observing Earth Hour, reducing electricity consumption by approximately 11.3 MWh during the designated hour. That’s equivalent to turning off roughly 755,000 15-watt light bulbs for one hour.
This year’s participation reflects the continued commitment of residents, businesses, and local organizations to building a more sustainable community.
“Earth Hour is a reminder that small actions, taken together, can have a powerful collective impact,” said Jeff Mocha, Chief Operations and Electrification Officer at Oakville Hydro. “When our community comes together with a shared purpose — even for 60 minutes — we demonstrate what’s possible. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this year’s Earth Hour meaningful.”
While the energy savings are measurable, Earth Hour represents more than a reduction in electricity use; it underscores Oakville’s ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility, conservation, and advancing a culture of sustainability across the community.
About Earth Hour
Earth Hour is a worldwide movement for the planet that the World Wildlife Fund (“WWF”) introduced in 2007 with a lights-off event in Sydney, Australia. Since then, it has grown to engage more than 7,000 cities and towns worldwide, and the one-hour event continues to remain the key driver of the now larger movement of stopping climate change.
