Oakville Hydro is proud to announce the commencement of its public electrical safety survey. This initiative aims to assess the community's understanding of staying safe around electricity and electrical equipment.
A public awareness of electrical safety survey is required by the Ontario Energy Board every two years, and Oakville Hydro is committed to compliance and wants to encourage all residents to take part. This year, participants will be asked six questions corresponding to the most frequent incidents involving utility equipment. The survey, which only takes a few minutes to complete, provides valuable insights to help us further strengthen our safety programs.
“The safety of the community we serve is at the core of everything we do,” said Peter Michaud, Vice President, Sustainability, and Chief Health and Safety Officer at Oakville Hydro. “This survey gives us valuable insight into where we can improve awareness and education around electrical safety. Every response helps guide initiatives that make a real difference for our customers and neighbours.”
This year, for every survey response collected, Oakville Hydro will donate meals through Feed Halton to support individuals and families in need, aiming to provide 500 meals.
Residents of Oakville aged 18 and above are requested to participate in the survey. The questions cover safety topics related to powerlines, tampering with green transformer equipment, and other electrical hazards that may pose risks to individuals and their loved ones.
