Centralized Capacity Information Map (CCIM)

The Centralized Capacity Information Map (CCIM) is an online tool created by the Ontario Energy Board that provides a high-level view of electricity distribution system capacity across Ontario. It helps customers understand where electrical capacity may be available to support new or expanded electricity demand and Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), such as solar generation and battery storage. The CCIM is intended for early planning and screening only and does not replace the formal connection process with Oakville Hydro.

Why use the CCIM?
The CCIM helps reduce uncertainty early in project planning by providing visibility into available grid capacity across Ontario. It allows customers to quickly screen and compare potential locations, supporting faster and more informed development, investment, and electrification decisions.

Who is the CCIM for?
The CCIM is designed for customers planning projects that may require a new or upgraded electricity connection, including:

  • Commercial, industrial, and residential developers
  • Businesses planning expansions or relocations
  • EV charging and DER developers
  • Investors and municipal planners

What information does the CCIM show?
The CCIM includes two map views:

  • Available Load Capacity: Indicates where the electricity system may support new or expanded customer demand
  • Available DER Hosting Capacity: Indicates where the system may accommodate DERs such as solar or battery storage

Capacity is shown in broad ranges and reflects system conditions at the time data was submitted. Information may change and should be confirmed with the servicing distributor. For the most accurate and up-to-date capacity information, contact Oakville Hydro's Engineering team at engineering@oakvillehydro.com before proceeding with detailed project planning.
