If you’re a residential or small business customer that pays Time-of-Use (TOU) electricity prices, you can choose to switch to Tiered prices beginning November 1, 2020.
To switch from TOU to Tiered prices, you will need to notify Oakville Hydro either by completing an election form or by contacting us at email@example.com or 905-825-9400 (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). Oakville Hydro will begin accepting election forms on October 13, 2020.
You may wish to continue paying TOU prices for your electricity. In that case, no action is required.

Rates - January 1 to 28, 2021
The Ontario government announced that it is lowering electricity prices to a discounted off-peak rate for all Time-of-Use and Tiered residential and small business customers beginning January 1, 2021. The lower rate of 8.5 ¢/kWh will be available 24 hours per day, seven days a week for a 28-day period.

Changes to Your Electricity Bill
On November 1, 2019, the Ontario Electricity Rebate started being applied to bills for most residential consumers, farms and many small businesses.
Effective January 1, 2021 the Ontario Electricity Rebate will increase to provide a 21.2% rebate on electricity charges for eligible customers. It will appear on your hydro bill as a single item.

At Oakville Hydro, we purchase the electricity we deliver to customers at market prices and earns no margin on the sale of the commodity. Oakville Hydro’s charges account for approximately 19% of the total bill for a typical residential customer.
The other charges on your bill are collected by Oakville Hydro on behalf of other electricity market participants, including generators, transmitters, retailers and regulators.
