New Electricity Rates in Effect May 1, 2017

The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) recently announced changes to electricity rates across the province.

Effective May 1, 2017, the Time-of-Use Rates are:

  • On-peak (11:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. on weekdays) = 15.7¢/kWh (a decrease of 1.0¢/kWh)
  • Mid-peak (7:00a.m. to 11:00a.m. and 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. on weekdays) = 11.3¢/kWh (a decrease of 1.9¢/kWh)
  • Off-peak (7:00p.m. to 7:00a.m. weekdays, weekends and statutory holidays) = 7.7¢/kWh (a decrease of 1.0¢/kWh)

Customers will see both old and new rates reflected on invoices that include read dates prior to May 1.

Oakville Hydro's portion of a residential customer’s electricity bill is approximately 19%, which forms part of the delivery charge line on electricity bills.
