Oakville Earth Hour Results in Energy Savings
(Oakville, ON) March 20, 2016 – Oakville Hydro reports that during Earth Hour, the demand for electricity in the Town of Oakville was reduced by 3.7 per cent (6.5 MW), the equivalent of turning off 100,000 light bulbs.
“Earth Hour reminds us each year of the importance of conservation,” said Rob Lister, President of Oakville Hydro. “Conserving energy is vital in Oakville and across the world. Earth Hour is a reminder that even the smallest action can make a huge difference.”
About Earth Hour
Earth Hour is a worldwide movement for the planet that the World Wildlife Fund (“WWF”) started in 2007 with a lights-off event in Sydney, Australia. Since then, it has grown to engage more than 7,000 cities and towns worldwide, and the one-hour event continues to remain the key driver of the now larger movement of stopping climate change.
