Green Power Program Results

Oakville Hydro Energy Services Inc. congratulates the Canadian Union of Public Employees on their environmental leadership!

In October 2008, C.U.P.E. contributed to a cleaner environment by purchasing 406,000 kWh of green power, which helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions (CO2) by 406 tonnes this year. This is equivalent to enough electricity for a month for 406 typical homes.

Program Results to date :

Each year from March 2003 to date, customers continue to give the green light to a cleaner environment through this program. To date 1,604,440 kWh of green power has been generated and injected into the Ontario Electricity Grid. This is equivalent to the amount of electricity used by 134 typical homes in a year, and helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (CO2) by approximately 1,604 tonnes. The GHG emission reduction varies each year depending on the green electricity mix.
