Alert: Fraudsters Posing as Oakville Hydro and Demanding Money

(Oakville, ON) May 24, 2016 - It has been reported that, once again, Oakville residents and businesses are receiving fraudulent telephone calls from people posing as Oakville Hydro employees.  We are asking customers to be vigilant and cautious.

The suspects inform the customer that they are behind on their bill payments and that their electricity will be disconnected if payment is not made immediately. 

If customers receive suspicious calls from someone claiming to be from Oakville Hydro and demanding money, please:

  • Do not provide banking or credit card information
  • Hang up immediately
  • Call Oakville Hydro Customer Service at 905-825-9400
  • If you have not suffered a loss, please report the incident by calling the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501
