The Every Kilowatt Counts Summer Sweepstakes is designed to reduce summer electricity consumption by 10% among Ontario’s homeowners. Residents are encouraged to register for the contest prior to June 30 to be eligible to win Early Bird prizes which include solar iPod/cell phone chargers and power bars with integrated timers. Consumers who have registered and who successfully reduce their electricity consumption by 10% will be eligible for the Grand Prize draw and have a chance to win ENERGY STAR® appliances, mountain bikes, or an iPod Touch and Solio Charger!

You are eligible for The Every Kilowatt Counts Summer Sweepstakes program if:

  1. You are a residential customers (seasonal, recreational and bulk metered multi-unit residential accounts excluded)
  2. You have an active account with Oakville Hydro with twelve months billing data at the same premises preceding the program season (July 1, 2007 to July 1, 2008)
  3. You have an active account with Oakville Hydro at the same premises for the full program season (July 1, 2008 to August 31, 2008)

Registration will run from May 1 to July 15, but for the chance to win Early Bird Prizes, register before June 30!


To qualify for the Grand Prize draw, you must reduce your electricity consumption by 10% for the period of July 1, 2008 to August 31, 2008. *


The Every Kilowatt Counts Summer Sweepstakes is running in conjunction with our other conservation programs. Use them to help you achieve your 10% reduction!


The Early Bird Prizes will be drawn on August 15, 2008.
The Grand Prizes will be drawn in January 2009.

About Oakville Hydro Electricity Distribution Inc.
Oakville Hydro Electricity Distribution Inc. (OHEDI) is regulated by the Ontario Energy Board and distributes electricity throughout Oakville. Upon opening of the Ontario electricity market in 2002, OHEDI started distributing electricity to customers at the Standard Supply Service (SSS) Rate set by the Ontario Energy Board. OHEDI also provides information on electricity rates, water rates, lines and operations. The current number of customers serviced by EDI is in excess of 53,000, and growing at a rate of 3,000 customers per year.
