Going Away?
Don’t waste energy when you’re not at home. Before you go away consider the following: |
- Instead of leaving lights on, use a timer.
- Be sure to unplug all of your unnecessary appliances, such as the TV, DVD, etc.
- To save energy, unplug all clocks (even appliances with clocks such as coffee makers).
- Raise the temperature inside your refrigerator, or if possible empty the contents and leave it off.
- Turn up your air conditioner thermostat – better yet shut your air conditioner off.
- Turn down your heat thermostat.
- Use the vacation setting or turn off the water heater if you are going to be away for more than a long weekend.
|
- Turn off any humidifiers and dehumidifiers.
- Turn off or lower your swimming pool heater.
- Keep window coverings closed.
- Lower waterbed temperatures and make sure they are well covered.
- Make sure all taps are not leaking and are turned off.
